Japanese Exchange

The Grey Coat Hospital said "sayoonara" to our Japanese friends on 9th November after their 10-day visit to London to meet their Westminster based exchange partners. Every year, Grey Coat joins forces with Westminster City School and St Augustine's High School in an exchange programme that begins with students from three schools in Tokyo visiting London in November and culminates in a visit of the London schools to Tokyo in May the following year.

In between these visits students have weekly Japanese lessons at The Grey Coat Hospital where they learn about the language and culture of their new found friends. Whilst in London the Japanese students stay with the family of their exchange partners and visit school, going to lessons with their partners on some days. This is also reciprocated on the visit to Tokyo although there is time for sightseeing too. The photos below were taken from last year's exchange trip to Tokyo:
