PSHCE
PSHCE is Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education. PSHCE lessons provide pupils with the knowledge, understanding, skills and attitude to make informed decisions about their lives. It includes everything schools do to promote pupils good health and well-being. As such it covers topics such as sex and relationships and drug abuse. There are a number of policies the school has within PSHCE corresponding to these areas:
PSHCE Policy
Sex and Relationships Policy
Drug Abuse Policy
At Grey Coat, students in Years 7-9 have one PSCHE lesson per week. This is picked up again in Year 11 where students will have one lesson per fortnight. PSHCE runs across the curriculum so that it is not just limited to these lessons. The curriculum covers a range of topics, for example:
- Developing confidence & responsibility and making the most of ability; - Preparing to play an active role as Citizens; - Developing a healthy, safer lifestyle; - Developing good relationships and respecting the differences between people.
