On Monday 7th December, the theologian Dr Robert Beckford visited Grey Coat with a film crew from Channel 4 in order to meet a group of Year 10 GCSE students. He taught 15 girls about the book of Revelation and asked for their views about the end of the world, environmental change and what the role of humanity might be. Dr Beckford presented his interpretation of the last book of the Bible as a call to resist any forces that lead to oppression and suffering, including those that fail to take seriously the consequences of ecological disaster.
His will be the last programme in a Channel 4 series on the Bible, to be broadcast in the New Year. |
