The Science Department has worked in association with Hackney City Farm during the Spring Term, so that students and staff could participate in the school’s very first hatching project, entitled Chickwatch 2015. A clutch of chicken eggs were delivered during British Science Week and incubation was completed in one of our science laboratories, using an automatic incubator. Twenty-one days later, small cracks began to appear on the surface of the eggs, which were shortly followed by the emergence of three fully formed chicks. Students entered a competition to name our chicks and the winning entries were Nandos, Carlos and Pedro. These three amigos have captured the hearts and minds of our school community. Happy Easter from everyone at The Grey Coat Hospital.
