After being invited to demonstrate how an established Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme works in the UK, we were delighted to receive President Rosen Plevneliev of Bulgaria, who visited The Grey Coat Hospital in March 2014.
The President was interested in learning about the Duke of Edinburgh Award at Grey Coat and students welcomed our special guest, who is Patron of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in Bulgaria. Students shared with him their experiences of participating in expeditions here in the UK and explained their volunteering activities; an integral part of the
Award Scheme. President Plevneliev presented six lucky students with their Bronze DoE certificates. He also met staff involved in delivering and supporting the Award in the school. The Award is a non-formal education programme which focuses on personal development and enables young people to learn practical and social skills that are valuable for their personal and professional development.
