Students perform 'Fusion' as part of DfES International Education Week

During November, students from The Grey Coat Hospital joined forces with students from Westminster City School to create and perform a musical international project which they named ‘Fusion’ – aptly named because it has been a fusion of students from the two Westminster based schools, a fusion of international cultures and a fusion of media used to create the performance. Students from Years 7 and 9 have been working on the performance through workshops, in which they have written, composed and rehearsed it in just eight days.

The aim of the project has been to increase awareness of the international community represented within both schools and in the Westminster wider community. This has been further enhanced by a school theme of ‘Respect’ at The Grey Coat Hospital - respect for each other, regardless of race, religion or creed. Working with internationally acclaimed opera singers, film makers and musicians from Tinderbox Artists and Three Blue Legs Films, the students have produced film, drama and song about what it means to be a global citizen in today’s world. The performance took place on Tuesday 14th November and was the culmination of what they had learnt through these workshops.

We are most grateful to HSBC who funded this project.
