Ofsted lists Grey Coat in list of 'outstanding providers'
22 November 2006.
We are delighted to report that we have been named in the Ofsted 2005/06 list of ‘outstanding providers of education and care’ in a report due out today alongside the HM Chief Inspectors Annual report.
We were inspected by Ofsted in November 2005 and the resulting report judged the overall effectiveness of the school to be outstanding stating, “the school is a harmonious community where girls cooperate well, take responsibility and make the most of the many opportunities available to them”. Our Sixth Form was judged equally outstanding with the profile, performance and reputation classed as “excellent”.
Ofsted also reported that our test and examination results were well above average - indeed this year’s examination results were also high with 78% of students achieving at least five A*-C grades in their GCSEs and an average UCAS point scoring of 290 per student for its A level results, putting us in the top 10% of the country.
The school is one of just 10% of secondary schools judged outstanding for the year. Outstanding providers have been invited by Her Majesty's Chief Inspector to attend a reception to celebrate their achievement. To find out more please visit the Ofsted website at www.ofsted.gov.uk
