How exciting it was to welcome Michael Morpurgo for an afternoon of live webchat with girls from GCH, and students of 5 other schools across London.
He was very friendly, wise, and funny as we talked about writing and reading. One of our girls asked why he writes about such serious, adult, themes in his books for children. Michael’s answer was that these big questions of life and death are important to us all – we need to recognise and understand them at all stages of life. Children often want to ask the big questions, and adults don’t always want to answer them. Michael’s books tell the truth about death, grief and love.
He is a very engaging speaker, and made us all feel special – like a loving grandfather. It’s a day that will be long be remembered at GCH!
