Business Studies - Young Enterprise

The Young Enterprise Scheme is a successful and well established enrichment programme offered to the Year 12 Business Studies students where the students are given the opportunity to run their own company over the course of the academic year. The ‘company’ runs as exactly that; students apply for specific positions to become a member of the board of directors; the successful team begin to raise share capital to market and finance a product or service of their own choice and they trade amongst market traders in Central London.  At the end of the year they liquidate the company and present a report and accounts at their Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Young Enterprise 2006/2007
This year the sixth form young enterprise company is called 'Itchigo' and their product is a range of beautiful chunky beaded bracelets, examples of which are shown above.  The beaded bracelets are all uniquely hand made using array of colours, shapes and sizes and are priced between £6.00 and £10.00. They have proved extremely popular amongst both students and staff.

Young Enterprise 2005/2006
In 2006 twenty two participants worked hard to produce and market two very different products.  They produced all occasional cards using recycled card and also small handbags using colourful Indian garments donated by the community.  The programme has helped them develop practical skills including leadership, problem solving, working with others, communication and information technology.
