Shanghai No 3 Girls School Exchange - May 2008
On 21st May, fourteen Year 9 girls met at the airport to go to our long-awaited trip to China! After the 12 hour flight, we finally arrived in China. As soon as we got off the plane, we instantly felt the humidity. We were met by a teacher from Shanghai Number Three Girls School and were escorted to the school. When we arrived at the school, there was a big electronic notice board saying ‘WELCOME GREY COAT HOSPITAL’. We were all very amazed by the size of the school and the facilities they have.
During the week, we participated in many activities such as fan designing, seal carving (a form of Chinese Art), singing folk songs, visiting museums, going to the water village, the oriental pearl tower and not to mention the multiple shopping trips!
We also had a chance to experience lessons in China and discovered that one of the differences in Chinese schools was that the teachers moved to different classes instead of the students!
As part of the exchange, every one of us had our own partners and places to stay. This meant that we each had our own experiences of living in China. We spent our weekend with our host families and sometimes meeting other partners.
The 10 days went very fast and none of us wanted leave China. We all had a wonderful time.
