News : June 2006 Westminster ‘Latin’ Party On 26th June we hosted a Westminster Latin Party to honour the independent / state school partnership that the school has with Westminster School. We have been teaching Latin, considered one of the most difficult GCSE subjects, at the school for six years The evening was a chance for former students of the subject to meet up with present ones. Year 8 Charity Week Year 8 Charity Week took place in June with proceeds going to the Samantha Dickinson Research Trust in memory of their former classmate Catherine Lynch who sadly died of a brain tumour earlier in the school year. There were various food stalls and a button stall featuring jewellery made from buttons. Over £250 was raised. Author visits Reading Club On June 14th Reading Club welcomed author Jennie Walters. Several of Jennie’s books are in the school library and she talked to the girls about how she writes her books and what it is like to have books published. She also answered a number of very interesting questions as well as giving the girls tips on how to write good stories (and listening to a few of their tips!) Back to Other News
