Prize Giving 2006
23 November 2006
Prize Giving 2006 took place on 23 November and was again the chance to reward current and former students by way of a prize for academic achievement. It is a time for the school community to come together and reflect upon the previous school year and its achievements. It is tradition for all graduate staff to wear their graduation gowns for the ceremony and great detail and preparation goes into sourcing the appropriate gown from the correct university.
Each year the school welcomes a former student - an 'Old Grey' - as speaker. This year it was the turn of Tamsin Dunwoody, Deputy Minister of the Welsh Assembly Government. The Head's speech commented on our Outstanding Ofsted and the various activities and events that have occurred this year at Grey Coat. The Head Girl and her deputies also addressed the audience with their view on what it has been like to be a student at Grey Coat this year. The Year 7 and Senior Choirs performed beautifully and there was also a performance of a a song featured in the Music International Performance, Fusion, which took place on 14th November.
Most Prize winners receive an embossed book of their choice in recognition of their achievement however there are more notable prizes in the form of scholarships. Click here to download the full list of prizes awarded in 2006.
