3 April 2007
On Tuesday 3rd April, the 8th Annual GCH Swimming Gala was held at the Queen Mother Sports Centre. Every form in Years 7 – 9 entered a swimming team to compete against the other forms in a variety of strokes. Teams were cheered on by a number of teachers and the whole of Yea r7, who livened up the atmosphere with colourful posters and Mexican waves.
There were individual races in Front crawl, Backstroke, Breastroke and Butterfly as well as a front crawl and medley relay. The gala was an excellent opportunity for pupils to demonstrate their swimming ability. Lucy Sanderson in 8H broke the record for 25m butterfly as did Devon Robins 9G for their year groups.
The Year 10 Sports Leaders were on hand to help supervise and time swimmers and Ann Macmillan, Katie Mason and Head Girl Santosh Stride did a fine job of scoring. Rebecca Bettinelli did a superb job of organising competitors for each race and the gala ran very smoothly.
So the information you have all been waiting for is who were the final the victors. I can now reveal that the champions for each year group were:
Year 7 – 7T
Year 8 – 8H
Year 9 – 9C
Well done to all those who participated and thank you to everyone who made it a success.
