Outstanding GCSE and Cambridge National Results
It has been wonderful to celebrate the achievements of our GCSE and Cambridge National (CNAT) students today. Between them, they have achieved another set of outstanding results, well above the national average, and we are incredibly proud of them all. These grades are expected to continue a long-standing tradition of placing our students’ performance in the top 10% of non-selective schools nationally.
We have many amazing individual successes to celebrate, all of which are rooted in the students’ consistently excellent effort and a strong desire to achieve their personal best; and some of which were achieved in the face of considerable personal challenges. We are extremely proud of all our students!
Please note that the below are provisional results which may change after remarks.
-
89.1% of our students’ GCSEs in English and Mathematics were graded 9-4
-
79.4% of our students’ GCSEs in English and Mathematics were graded 9-5
-
Our overall pass rate at grades 9-4 was 92.9% - 71.7% in all London schools and 67% in England
-
Our overall pass rate at grades 9-5 was 83.9%
-
43.7% of our students’ GCSEs were graded 9 to 7 – 28.6% in all London schools and 21.8% in England
These brilliant outcomes are testimony to the expert teaching, pastoral care and guidance given by our staff; the hard work and resilience of our students; and the unwavering support of our parents and carers.
Impressively, 163/165 (98.7%) of our students took examinations in eight or more subjects this year compared to 25.8% of students in England. Of those, 14% of our students attained grades 9-7 in all their subjects (5.6% in England in 2026), and 74% gained grades 9-4 in all their subjects (compared to 46.5% in England in 2026), which is a fantastic achievement and testifies to the ethos of high ambition and hard work that we have in our school.
Furthermore, 131/165 (79.3%) students at GCH took 10 or more GCSEs this year. By contrast, only 10.9% of students in England took 10 GCSEs or more subjects.
Incredibly, 28 of our students (16.9%) who took ten or more subjects gained at least ten grades 9-7, surpassing the national percentage of students (16%) who achieved all grades 7-9 in such a large suite of subjects.
It puts the tremendous scale of our students’ achievement further into perspective when considering that 24 (15.5%) of our highest achieving students took 11 or more GCSEs (when only 1.3% of all students in England took 11 or more subjects at GCSE and only 0.1% took 12 GCSEs or more).

Most of our students will take up places to study A-Levels in our Sixth Form. We look forward very much to welcoming them back to school in September, and to seeing them flourish and grow. Others will take up courses at institutions elsewhere, suited to their interests and ambitions, and we look forward to hearing how they get on. Our door is always open for our Old Greys!
A huge “thank you” goes to all our staff, who have worked tirelessly to support our students throughout their courses and who inspired them to maintain the highest aspirations.
The Grey Coat Hospital - A Level Results Summer 2026

We are delighted that the school’s A Level results continue to be above the average of all secondary schools in London, and above the average of all secondary schools nationally.

In total, we had 157 students in Year 13 and 144 applied for a university place. Eight Year 14 and Year 15 students also applied to university through us, leading to a total of 152 applications. Our students will again take their places at a range of excellent and sought-after institutions, with 66 students so far securing courses at highly competitive Russell Group universities including seven places at Oxford and Cambridge. Two students are going on to a high-quality apprenticeship, and three students have secured art or design foundation places. The remaining students will take planned gap years.
According to the exams regulator OFQUAL, in the whole of England in 2026, only 2.2% of students who took three A Levels managed to attain three A* grades; only 66.3% of students nationally took 3 A levels in 2026; and only 4.9% of all A-Level students took more than three A Levels in 2026.
We have had many amazing individual successes to celebrate, all of which are rooted in the students’ consistently excellent effort and a strong desire to achieve their personal best; and some of which were achieved in the face of considerable personal challenges. A number of our students deserve a special mention for how they performed against the national picture.
